About Brookton, Maine

First organized in 1851 as Jackson Brook Plantation and later incorporated as a town in 1883, Brookton surrendered its town status in 1941 to become an unorganized township. Tucked into the North Washington wilderness, it covers 29.1 square miles of land and is home to a population of about 150 residents.
