About Lambert Lake, Maine

First organized as a plantation in 1844, the unorganized territory of Lambert Lake Township functions as a remote wilderness community in northern Washington County. Covering 37 square miles of land (historically surveyed as 23,700 acres) and home to a population of about 60 residents, the municipality is defined by its dense forests and the scenic, 605-acre Great Pond that gives the area its name.

Like many historic frontier settlements in the region, the local village grew along the Eastern Maine Railway and was long tied to outdoor guiding and the timber trade. Today, Lambert Lake is a peaceful, secluded haven for a handful of year-round locals and seasonal camp owners.

Positioned along Maine State Route 6 away from commercial centers, the community's low-key lifestyle revolves around small-scale logging and outdoor enthusiasts drawn to the lake's excellent brook trout and landlocked salmon fishing.
