The Sun in Maine

And when the sun peaks over the horizon, we should all be reminded of why we wake.

The snow glistens on the rooftops and the quiet woodland birds will take a shake.

The ones that don’t fly south, will not boast nor regret, because the sun will always come up for the morning and provide warmth they can’t forget.

Dusting off their frosted wings, and chirping quietly under the warmth of their sun glazed shelter,

The people will do the same—

Some still tucked in under their covers.

All of us, neighborly, neighborly, neighborly people from town to town.

A helping hand, always a kind face in the crowd, let people not forget we have this stunning light shining down.

It beckons some to wake up and maybe some to sleep in. Some to shovel their steps and some to brew a pot of coffee and begin.

But let it also be a reminder of why we’re all here on this earth, because similar to the woodland animals, the sun rises for us everyday and proves how much we’re worth.
